چکیده

The Logic of Partial Functions (LPF) is used to reason about propositions that include terms that can fail to denote values. This paper provides semantics for LPF. A Structural Operational Semantics (SOS) provides an intuitive introduction; this is followed by a denotational semantics where the space of denotations is relations which provide an intuitive model of undefined terms. Finally, we illustrate how the denotational semantics can be used as a basis for proofs about propositions that include terms that can fail to denote. © 2010 University of Newcastle upon Tyne. Probabilistic Canonical Models for Partial Logics

The aim of the paper is to develop the notion of partial probability distributions as being more realistic models of belief systems than the standard accounts. We formulate the theory of partial probability functions independently of any classical semantic notions. We use the partial probability distributions to develop a formal semantics for partial propositional calculi, with extensions to pr...

A new method for fuzzification of nested dummy variables by fuzzy clustering membership functions and its application in financial economy

In this study, the aim is to propose a new method for fuzzification of nested dummy variables. The fuzzification idea of dummy variables has been acquired from non-linear part of regime switching models in econometrics. In these models, the concept of transfer functions is like the notion of fuzzy membership functions, but no principle or linguistic sentence have been used for inputs. Consequen...

An Executive Approach Based On the Production of Fuzzy Ontology Using the Semantic Web Rule Language Method (SWRL)

Today, the need to deal with ambiguous information in semantic web languages is increasing. Ontology is an important part of the W3C standards for the semantic web, used to define a conceptual standard vocabulary for the exchange of data between systems, the provision of reusable databases, and the facilitation of collaboration across multiple systems. However, classical ontology is not enough ...

A Mechanization of Strong Kleene Logic for Partial Functions

Even though it is not very often admitted, partial functions do play a significant role in many practical applications of deduction systems. Kleene has already given a semantic account of partial functions using three-valued logic decades ago, but there has not been a satisfactory mechanization. Recent years have seen a thorough investigation of the framework of many-valued truth-functional log...

Partial first-order logic relying on optimistic, pessimistic and average partial membership functions

One of the common features of decision–theoretic rough set models is that they rely on total background (available) knowledge in the sense that the knowledge covers the discourse universe. In the proposed framework the author gives up this requirement and allows that available knowledge about the discourse universe may be partial. It is shown by introducing optimistic, average and pessimistic p...
